Spot's coverage does not depend on pre-existing conditions

Spot's coverage covers pre-existing conditions. This is a departure from most pet insurance plans. Some medical conditions are exclusions from the policy. For instance, dental disease, hip dysplasia, intervertebral disk disease, and other hereditary conditions aren't covered. Other exclusions include dental and orthodontic procedures and expenses related to boarding and daycare. Cosmetic procedures and bilateral conditions are not covered by the insurance.

Spot's policy on pre-existing conditions does not cover arthritis treatment. The company defines a pre-existing condition as any medical condition that existed before the plan was issued. The insurance company will not pay for treatment of arthritis unless the condition is already cured. Although there is no age limit for this policy, customers must pay a deductible at least $2,500 to cover any vet expenses.
